Ben Vrackie Walk

So, you may have an idea about a place to stay in Scotland with your dog. Now, the next most important step is to find one or two fabulous walks to fill your days with the kind of joy that only a canine companion can bring.

Pitlochry walking trails  are as plentiful in numberas they are varied in terrain. we’ve chosen just one to highlight, below:-

Undoubtedly, Pitlochry’s most popular hillwalk: “The Ben” is considered an iconic feature of Pitlochry’s landscape. Towering over this picturesque town, it offers a stunning backdrop and protection from northerly weather systems

Ben Vrackie, the mountain  that overlooks Pitlochry, is a favourite amongst hillwalkers of moderate to advanced skill.

This stunning sentinel that pr0tects the town from a good deal of northerly weather disruption, truly has a remarkable mountainous terrain. Accordingly, every lover of nature and hiking feels impelled to visit when they are in Perthshire. Not quite high enough to be classified a munro ( a mere 2757 ft – just short of the 3000 ft required to qualifiy for Munro status) this impressive prominence is located near the charming little town of Pitlochry in Scotland, making it an ideal place for a lovely day out in nature. Its craggy, lush magnificence presents trekking aficionados with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

A hike up Ben Vrackie presents and excellent avenue for all outdoor enthusiasts with upwards of moderate skill level.  Starting from the parking lot near Moulin Hotel, the hiking trail leads you through fields of striking heather meandering into a lush, forested region. The breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside provide a treat for the eyes and one’s soul.

As you amble through this idyllic landscape, you’ll encounter several small streams that tumble and trickle through their onward journey. This peaceful and serene setting is enveloped in a picturesque  tapestry of moorland, woodland and valley scenery.

While climbing up, hikers also get to observe the local wildlife, such as red deer and birds of prey, adding to the memorable experience. And when hikers reach the pinnacle, the view from the top is simply beyond words and definitely worth cherishing. Spending a day out in nature, conquering a decent climb, and basking in the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, will undoubtedly stay with you for a lifetime.

For those hillwalkers who feel that the challenge of the entire upwards climb might prove too testing, there is a resting point 2/3 of the way up, near the picturesque Loch a’ Choire. Many choose to turn back at this point because, after enjoying the view still afforded, the final few hundred yards ascent is steep and a littl bit of a scramble for aching calves. Nonetheless, it is worthy to note that steps have been formed, both to protect the immediate environment and for ease of progress

This mountain, of some 2759ft, offers good, well-formed paths through woodland, across moorland and past a small lochan. . There are two optional extensions of the basic “there and back” walk.
